01What the key unlocks
A Prompto license key unlocks the Direct DMG version of the app. It does not apply to the Mac App Store build and cannot be entered there.
The initial Direct license is personal and limited to 1 Mac. The license is not a subscription.
02Activation
Install the Direct DMG, open Prompto, then enter the license key from your Lemon Squeezy receipt when the app asks for activation.
Activation requires a network connection. After successful activation, the Direct app stores local licensing state in Keychain so it can keep working offline while the certificate remains valid.
03Deactivate a Mac
If you are moving Prompto Direct to another Mac, open Prompto on the old Mac, go to Settings, then License, and choose Deactivate. That releases the Direct activation so the same license can be used on the new Mac.
Deactivation needs the licensing service to be reachable. If you are offline, the current Mac stays activated and you can try again later. If the old Mac is no longer available, contact support with the order ID, checkout email, and the last four characters of the license key.
04Recover a key
Use Lemon Squeezy My Orders with the email address used at checkout. Lemon sends a secure magic link and shows your order history and available product links.
If you cannot access the checkout email address, contact hello@jnjambrino.com with the approximate purchase date and order ID if you have it. Do not send your full license key.
05Activation limits
The launch license is limited to one active Mac. If activation says the limit was reached, use support and include the order ID, the last four characters of the license key, and a short description of what changed, such as a replaced Mac or a clean reinstall.
If you still have access to the previous Mac, deactivate it from Settings before contacting support. That is the fastest path and avoids any manual license reset.
Do not send raw device identifiers, full diagnostic logs, prompt contents, or vault folders unless support explicitly asks for a redacted file.
06Common errors
Network unavailable: activation requires a network connection. If Prompto was already activated, offline use can continue with the local certificate while it remains valid.
License disabled or expired: recover the order in My Orders first, then contact support if the status looks wrong. Support can inspect the Lemon Squeezy order without needing your full license key.
Wrong product or wrong Mac:confirm that you installed the Direct DMG from Prompto's website. Direct license keys do not unlock the Mac App Store build.
07Privacy
License activation is separate from your prompt vault. Prompto does not send prompt bodies, prompt titles, search queries, tags, vault paths, or clipboard contents during activation.
